Sawyer Water Filters were originally used in dialysis, and have been adapted to purify water.  These one-time only investments are easily cleaned and come with a backwash syringe.  Each filter can provide 500 litres of clean water per day.  They are the size of a bicycle pump, so easily transported and don’t take up a lot of space.

We began fundraising for the filters in May 2017, and distributed the first fifty among some of our sponsored children, whose water source is some of the dirtiest in Kenya.  It was amazing to see their reaction and the delight in having clean safe water for their families.  We have now distributed 150 of these, and we are still fund raising for this cause.

Follow ups have been so encouraging, and it’s great to see that families are share the water filter with other families in their communities.  So, one filter which cost about £80 including a clean bucket, is providing more than one family with clean  safe water, and if maintained, they should last at least 10 years.
